Monday 24th December 2007

We had to get up early this morning so that we could check out of the Witches Hat and move to our new hostel... because we're gonna be spending Christmas on the beach! We had our breakfast, packed our bags and then said goodbye to Hopper. We're gonna miss this hostel - it's definitely one of the best we've stayed in! We walked down to the bus stop and caught the bus over to Scarborough Beach.

Our new hostel, Scarborough Beach Backpackers looks really nice too - so Emma's been lucky so far, she's not had anything to complain about... although, this triple room is a double-bed with a single bunk above, so we'll see! My Mum had told us that GMTV were filming from Cottesloe Beach today, so we thought it would be a laugh to try and get on TV and caught the bus over.

Cottesloe Beach was packed! There were loads of people with big signs and messages for people at home in the UK, so we knew we were in the right place. The filming started at about 3pm and we did our best to get spotted - standing at the front waving like crazy or standing in the sea splashing about. When it got to about 5.30pm we were told that they were going to do one more line-up, so we made sure we were right at the front of the queue. At just after 9am (UK time), there we were... me, Nikki and Emma on the TV - we know because Nikki's Dad text saying he could see us! Apparently Nikki and Emma were on for a few seconds, I was just in the background waving my Bristol City shirt above my head.

When GMTV had packed up and left, we spent a couple more hours on the beach and I went swimming in the sea. When the sun started to set we thought we'd head back, but we'd missed the bus back to Scarborough Beach, so we had to go into the city first and catch another bus from there... I don't remember much of the journey - I fell asleep, I was exhausted! We got back to Scarborough Beach at about 9.45pm and because the kitchen in our hostel was gonna be shutting at 10pm, we thought we'd treat ourselves to some take-away. Emma had fish & chips and me and Nikki shared the most amazing pizza... with food on the table, I was soon wide awake again!

Boy, it's gonna be a cold Christmas this year - about 36° they reckon!

Oh, Emma doesn't have a problem getting IN TO BED, but does have trouble climbing back down, so she has to make sure the last thing she does at night is go to the toilet. She said there's no way she's tackling the ladder in the dark (ha ha).

I think our recording of gmtv is nearly worn out where we have watched it so many times trying to spot you in amongst the hundreds of people. But as we all guessed if there was any possibility of you lot getting on tv then you would make sure that you were right in the front row!!! Sure enough the camera came to a stop right in front of Emma and Nikki, at first all we could see of Ben was a red BCFC shirt, then we caught a glimps of his waving hand and then his smiling face. Fantastic !xx
