Friday 7th December 2007

We woke up this morning - with no alarms going off or things to get up for, and it was absolute heaven. Once we'd had some some breakfast, we went out into the sunshine - and decided we'd spend the day relaxing on the beach. The weather was beautiful and we spent a couple of hours topping up our tans and reading our books.

This afternoon, when we thought it was about time to stretch our legs, we walked around the shops and bought some food for our tea... Nikki got us two sirloin steaks for $5, which is £2 - bargain! We took the food back and then went back to the beach. We lay there for about an hour watching the waves, reading and chatting (and singing the theme tunes to Neighbours and Home & Away), when all of a sudden it turned cloudy and a thunder storm erupted. We picked up our towels and came back to the hostel... just in time - before the heaviest rain I have ever seen started to come down. While we waited for the storm to pass, we had our yummy steaks for our tea and then went and had showers, before going out for a drink in town.

By now, all the storm clouds had cleared and the sky was a beautiful orange colour where the sun was setting. We went into one of the bars in town where we had a drink and then took a slow walk, along the sea-front and back to the hostel. On our way back we saw a 'search & rescue' helicopter, loads of police and an ambulance. Apparently, a girl had tried to go swimming alone - and had since been reported missing... hope she's ok!

WOW, Manly is BEAUTIFUL!
